From hurricanes to earthquakes, the news has been pretty scary lately.
Recently, wildfires burning through the California wine country area have caused extensive damage to a number of vineyards and resorts. Flames have ravaged Mendocino, Napa, and Sonoma counties since they began spreading Sunday, October 8. All in all, 17 large fires have burned more than 115,000 acres across California, killing 11 people to date. ASBA’s membership continues to send good thoughts to those affected, and hopes all fires will be extinguished soon.
Some recent good news, however, is that the Meritage Resort & Spa, ASBA’s Winter Meeting destination from Feb. 23-25, 2018, is outside the evacuation area and has remained unharmed.
A note on the Meritage’s website notes,
Atlas Peak Fire Update: Please note that The Meritage Resort and Spa is not located in an evacuation zone and remains open for business. Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by the fires and to the first responders working to keep our community safe. We will continue to provide updates on our Facebook page.
ASBA will also work to keep its members in the loop.
Note that this region of the U.S.A., like many others hit by disaster this year, will be relying on tourist dollars to help it recover. If you’ve been on the fence about attending, here’s another great reason to do so.
