ASBA’s Technical Meeting is Taking Registration – What are you Waiting for?

ASBA’s 2016 Technical Meeting brochure just came out; in fact, it will probably come flying through your mail slot soon – if it hasn’t already.

We know there are three ways of responding the first time you see the brochure:

  1. Sign up
  2. Put it aside to examine later
  3. Toss it

Of course, we’d hope you won’t go with option C. In fact, what we’re REALLY hoping for is option A. This meeting, held on Amelia Island, Florida, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort from December 2-6, offers convenience, affordable airfares and honestly, a stupendous program of technical sessions, featuring speakers from within the industry, as well as many in related industries.

As always, technical programming has been arranged to be of interest to those in all aspects of the industry, according to ASBA’s membership divisions: Tennis, Track, Fields and Indoor – as well as general business topics that cover OSHA, hiring, liability, customer service and more.

And you won’t want to miss this year’s keynote speaker. International speaker and trainer Michael Hoffman, CSP, will discuss “Being #1 on Purpose.” In his address, Hoffman will rip open the secrets that can create and sustain success in the one area that business will always be built on: people. Learn what to do, what to say and how to act to truly become people of influence.

But before the meeting even gets started, you’ll have the opportunity for both business and fun. On Friday, December 2, from 1:30pm – 4:30 pm, Michael Gentile of Sports Labs USA will discuss “Performance Testing In Athletic Construction.” This session is presented prior to regular programming and registration is available for a nominal fee.

We also know that you come to the Technical Meeting to see your clients – and your competitors, and if there’s a better way to catch up with them (or face off with them) than ASBA’s optional tennis and golf outings, we just don’t know what it is. Both events are held on the property; the golf outing is at Oak Marsh on Friday, December 2, while the tennis outing is on Saturday, December 3. Bring your sports attire, your equipment and your competitive spirit. ASBA will take care of the rest.

And of course, if you’ve planned to take the certification exam, there is also an opportunity to do so, on Saturday from 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Get started by going to ASBA’s website and clicking on the certification tab at the top of the page. Remember that all arrangements to take the exam must be made in advance.

The meeting officially kicks off on Saturday with the Opening Reception in the Exhibit Hall – and believe us when we tell you that you won’t want to miss this event. It’s your best chance to catch up with friends and colleagues, see the newest products and services on the market and learn how they can help you work smarter, not harder.

Even once the meeting gets underway, you’ll have your chance to contribute to the Association’s work in Division meetings, as well as the chance to express your interest in various committees. There are numerous opportunities to get involved. If you’ve been waiting for an invitation, here it is: ASBA needs you. Get involved now.

Our property is the incredible Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, nestled on 1,350 acres at the tip of a barrier island just off the Northeast Florida coast.
